Description

Canesten3 is an antimicrobial for gynecological treatment.
The cream contains the active ingredient clotrimazole, which works against fungi and also against some other microorganisms.
Fungal infections of the genitals can occur due to the disturbed natural balance of microorganisms on the mucous membranes of the genitals, which can be caused by:
– use of certain medicines (eg antibiotics, birth control pills),- certain diseases and certain conditions (eg diabetes, menstruation, pregnancy),- stress, the use of strong means for intimate care and rinsing the vagina, the use of underwear made of artificial materials, which is not sufficiently airy.
We use Canesten3:
– in women to treat an infection of the internal genitalia (vagina) caused by a fungus (of the genus Yeast Candida) called candidal vaginitis.
Signs and symptoms of such an infection are white, cheesy vaginal discharge, itching, redness, swelling, and burning ulcers on the external genitalia.
Pain when urinating may also occur.
– for the treatment of infection of the external genitalial with fungi of the genus Candida in women and men.
In women, infection of the external genitalia (candidal vulvitis) manifests itself as itching, redness, swelling, burning ulcers of the labia and the area around them.
In men, such an infection (candidal balanitis) manifests itself as a tiny white rash, itching, and mild inflammation of the scalp and foreskin.
Do not use Canesten3 if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Pregnancy and breastfeedingIt is better to avoid the use of this drug in the first trimester of pregnancy.
The use of applicators during pregnancy is not recommended, therefore the use of Canesten vaginal tablets during pregnancy is recommended, but without an applicator.
You should stop breastfeeding during treatment with this medicine.

Usage

Do not use tampons, vaginal douches, spermicides or other vaginal products or latex products (condoms, diaphragm) while using this medicine.
In addition, it is recommended that you avoid sexual intercourse during the period of vaginal infection because the infection can be passed on to the partner.
Because the vagina and external genitalia are usually infected, combined treatment of both infected sites is required.
Canesten3 is intended for vaginal use (use in the vagina) and use on the external genitalia.
Vaginal treatment:
Squeeze one applicator filling (approximately 5 g) as deep into the vagina as possible 3 nights in a row before going to bed, as described in the instructions for proper use.
Signs and symptoms caused by a vaginal fungal infection usually improve within 7 days of starting treatment (or after using 3 vaginal cream refills).
If the signs and symptoms of the infection do not go away completely, if the condition worsens or the infection recurs, consult your doctor.
Treatment of the external genitalia (for women and men) :
Apply a thin layer of cream to the external genitalia 2 to 3 times a day and rub it (up to the buttocks in women and on the head and foreskin in men).
Canesten3 treatment usually lasts 1 to 2 weeks.
If the signs and symptoms of the infection do not disappear completely, if the condition worsens or the infection recurs, consult your doctor.
If symptoms return within 2 months, you should consult your doctor.
Canesten3 should only be used in adolescents (12 to 18 years of age) on the advice of a doctor.
The safety and efficacy of Canesten3 in children under 12 years of age have not been established.
