When L-Mesitran is in contact with the wound, fluid is drawn from the surrounding tissues, this creates a moist wound healing environment.
This stimulates the wound healing process by facilitating autolysis of necrotic and devitalised material, aids wound bed preparation and promotes epithelization.
L-Mesitran:
– has antibacterial properties.
– dilutes gradually and can be removed easily as per local wound cleansing protocol.
– prevents the secondary dressing adhering to the wound bed.
Due to the use of natural ingredients, each batch may vary in colour (yellow – brown), viscosity and may contain visible sugar crystals.
These variances will not affect the efficacy and use of the product.
Indications:
– Superficial and acute wounds e.
g.
cuts, abrasions and donor sites.
– Superficial and partial thickness burns (1st &
2nd degree).
– Chronic wounds e.
g.
pressure ulcers, venous, arterial and diabetic ulcers.
– Fungating wounds (to help deodorise and debride).
– Colonised acute wounds and (postoperative) surgical wounds.
Do not use on patients who are sensitive to the product or any of its components.
After opening use the product within three months.
Use a sterile spatula to distribute a thin layer of L-Mesitran either directly to the wound area and the surrounding tissue or on to sterile gauze first.
Cover and secure with the appropriate secondary dressing depending on the amount of wound fluids.
Inspect the wound and the surrounding tissue regularly, as per local protocols.
