A powdered medical device for the preparation of an oral suspension indicated for effective intestinal cleansing prior to endoscopic examinations or specific clinical conditions requiring complete bowel cleansing and cleansing.
Removing solid matter from the colon is essential for accurate diagnosis during endoscopic examination.
Lovol-esse Duo contains polyethylene glycol 3350, an inert substance that is not absorbed by the intestine, does not irritate the mucosa, does not ferment, and is excreted unchanged from the digestive tract.
Polyethylene glycol 3350 attracts a large amount of water, which softens the fecal mass by stimulating natural intestinal peristalsis.
Furthermore, the formulation contains simethicone, thanks to its antifoaming action, which is effective in absorbing gastrointestinal gas associated with constipation.
Lovol-esse Duo should not be administered in cases of:
– known hypersensitivity to the product’s components;
– intestinal stenosis or obstruction;
– dynamic ileus;
– acute or severe colitis;
– toxic megacolon;
– intestinal perforation;
– gastric stasis;
– chronic inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease;
– patients weighing less than 20 kg or under 2 years of age.
There are no reports of use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Therefore, it is recommended to use Lovol-esse Duo only after consulting your doctor.
The product may reduce the time spent in the intestine and therefore the absorption of concomitantly administered oral medications. Therefore, avoid taking them together: after taking a medication, wait at least 2 hours before taking Lovol-esse Duo.
If you are taking anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs, or diabetes medications, consult your doctor or the Endoscopy Center for any dosage changes.
The oral suspension must be prepared just before use. If not taken immediately, the solution should be refrigerated and used within 24 hours of preparation.
Do not add other ingredients to the reconstituted solution.
Simethicone may interfere with the effect of some diagnostic reagents, such as guaiac gum.
Gastrointestinal disturbances, borborygmi, abdominal pain, and nausea may occur before bowel movements. If these symptoms become severe, the product should be taken more slowly, which will reduce the symptoms. Hypersensitivity reactions occur rarely. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any side effects other than those listed in this leaflet.
For complete bowel cleansing, necessary for preparation for certain diagnostic tests (endoscopic or radiological examinations of the large intestine, abdominal ultrasounds) and in other clinical conditions, carefully follow the instructions provided by the center where the endoscopic examination is performed, which generally requires a controlled diet in the days preceding the examination.
To prepare the oral suspension on the spot, pour the contents of two sachets into one liter of water, shake well until a smooth suspension is obtained. The suspension should be drunk within 1-2 hours: preferably drinking 250 ml of suspension every 10-15 minutes.
Add 500 ml of water (half a liter) until a total of 1.5 L (1 liter of preparation and 500 ml of water) is obtained.
After approximately 1 hour, repeat the preparation with the other 2 sachets in one liter of water and take as described above, until you have consumed 3 liters of suspension.
After ingesting the first liter, you will begin to feel bowel movements and the urge to evacuate. The evacuations will become increasingly liquid until you obtain clear liquid discharges without fecal residue. This indicates that the cleansing has been performed correctly and you are ready for the test. Taking the preparation is generally not accompanied by abdominal discomfort or pain.
