Operil Spray 0.05% (oxymetazoline)

Operil 0.
5 mg / ml nasal spray, is intended to be used only by adults and children over 7 years old.
It contains oxymetazoline, a substance with nasal decongestant effect.
Oximetazoline narrows the arterioles, leading to reduced edema of the mucosa and nasal secretions.
This makes breathing easier.
Operil starts the effect within a few minutes and this effect lasts up to 12 hours.
Oximetazoline has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant action.
It also has antiviral action on some viruses, which mainly cause respiratory diseases.
Operil is used to treat:
– acute rhinitis caused by cold;
– allergic rhinitis;
– rhinosinusitis;
– inflammation of the middle ear.
Do not use Operil:
– if yoare allergies to any of the ingredients present in the formulation;
– if you have inflammation of the skin and nasal mucosa;
– after pituitary resection;
– if you have narrow-angle glaucoma;
– if you are using IMAO or it has not been 14 days since you interrupted the treatment;
– if you suffer from cardiac asthma or acute coronary heart disease.
Pregnancy and breastfeedingOperil can be used during pregnancy only if advised by your doctor.
Caution should be exercised in patients with hypertension or with signs of reduced placental perfusion.
Frequent and prolonged use can reduce placental perfusion.
It is not known if oximetazoline passes into breast milk, so it should not be used during breastfeeding.
Among the most common side effects we mention:
– burning and drying of the nasal mucosa;
– sneezing.
