Description

General Information:
Like all salicylates, acetylsalicylic acid belongs to the group of non-steroidal analgesic / antipyretic drugs.
As an ester of salicylic acid, acetylsalicylic acid has analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effect.
The mechanism of action described includes inhibition of cyclooxygenase and consequent inhibition of prostaglandins:
prostaglandin E2, prostaglandin I2, and thromboxane A2.
Acetylsalicylic acid plays a strong inhibitory effect on platelet aggregation.
Irreversible inhibition of cyclooxygenase is more intense in platelets, due to the fact that platelets cannot remodel enzymes.
Acetylsalicylic acid is considered to have other inhibitory effects on platelets.
Based on experimental data, ibuprofen in low doses may inhibit the action of aspirin on platelet aggregation when administered concomitantly.
In one study, with the administration of a single dose of ibuprofen 400 mg, 8 hours before or 30 minutes after rapid release of aspirin 81 mg, a reduced activity of acetylsalicylic acid in thromboxane formation or platelet aggregation was reported .
Indications:
• For mild to moderate pain, such as headache, neuralgia, myalgia, arthralgia.
• Generally, in a state of fever.
• In various inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatic fever, active rheumatoid arthritis (juveniles and adults), osteoarthritis.
In cases where the dose does not exceed 325 mg / day is indicated in:
• Prophylaxis from recurrence of myocardial infarction.
• To reduce the risks resulting from recurrence of ischemic stroke in men.
(In women the reduction of these risks has not been confirmed).
• Prophylaxis after transient ischemic stroke.
• Chronic unstable angina.
Prophylaxis of coronary thrombotic attacks in high-risk patients, such as hypertension (after adjusting blood pressure), diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidemia, and smoking.
• Prophylaxis of thrombosis (prevention of re-coagulation) after aortic-coronary inoculation (BY / PASS) and artificial arteriovenous in patients undergoing hemodialysis.
• Prevention of thrombosis after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA).
Contraindications:
• Hypersensitivity known to salicylates or other substances (exipients).
• History of asthma caused by administration of salicylates or active ingredients with similar action.
• Active gastro-duodenal ulcer.
d.
•Severe hepatic or renal insufficiency.
• Severe heart problems.
• Bleeding disorders (eg hemophilia).
• Patients under heparin therapy.
• Patients with hypersensitivity to other AIJS drugs (such as indomethacin, phenylbutazone, ibuprofen, diflunisal).
• Cross-sensitivity does not exist between acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and sodium salicylate, salicylamide or salicylic choline.
This is an OTC drug, so it can be taken without a doctor’s recommendation.
Before using this medicine read carefully the package leaflet as it contains more detailed information.
For any uncertainty consult your doctor or pharmacist.
