\n05% is intended to be used only by adults and children over 7 years old.
\nIt contains oxymetazoline, a substance with nasal decongestant effect.
\nOximetazoline narrows the arterioles, leading to reduced edema of the mucosa and nasal secretions.
\n This makes breathing easier.
\nOperil starts the effect within a few minutes and this effect lasts up to 12 hours.
\nOximetazoline has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant action.
\nIt also has antiviral action on some viruses, which mainly cause respiratory diseases.
\nOperil is used to treat:
\n\u2013 acute rhinitis caused by cold;
\n\u2013 allergic rhinitis;
\n\u2013 rhinosinusitis;
\n\u2013 inflammation of the middle ear.
\nDo not use Operil:
\n\u2013 if you are allergies to any of the ingredients present in the formulation;
\n\u2013 if you have inflammation of the skin and nasal mucosa;
\n\u2013 after pituitary resection;
\n\u2013 if you have narrow-angle glaucoma;
\n\u2013 if you are using IMAO or it has not been 14 days since you interrupted the treatment;
\n\u2013 if you suffer from cardiac asthma or acute coronary heart disease.
\nPregnancy and breastfeedingOperil can be used during pregnancy only if advised by your doctor.
\nCaution should be exercised in patients with hypertension or with signs of reduced placental perfusion.
\nFrequent and prolonged use can reduce placental perfusion.
\n It is not known if oximetazoline passes into breast milk, so it should not be used during breastfeeding.
\nAmong the most common side effects we mention:
\n\u2013 burning and drying of the nasal mucosa;
\n\u2013 sneezing.
\nThis is an OTC medicine, so it can be taken without a doctor\u2019s recommendation.
