Espumisan is a medicine belonging to the group of so-called gastrointestinal substances.
Its active substance, simethicone, destroys the gas bubbles accumulated in the stomach and intestines.
The released gas is easily removed.
Espumisan is used for:
- diseases in which the gas (meteorism) accumulates in the gastrointestinal tract, bloating, fullness, symptomatic treatment;
-against abdominal cavity examinations, eg X-ray, ultrasound.
If your condition does not improve or even worsens, contact your doctor.
Do not use Espumisan capsules:
- if you are allergic to the active substance, sunset yellow FCF (E110), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertilityIf you are pregnant, breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Espumisan adverse effects during pregnancy and lactation are unlikely because the active substance simethicone from the stomach and intestines does not cross the bloodstream.
However, there are no clinical data on the use of Espumisan in pregnant women.
This is an OTC medicine, so it can be taken without a doctor's recommendation.

The recommended dose is:
-Children 6 years of age, adolescents and adults 2 capsules (equivalent to 80 mg simethicone) 3-4 times daily.
Espumisan capsules can also be used after surgery.
Children under 6 years of age and infants are given different formulations (eg liquid).
Take Espumian capsules with or without food, if necessary, and at bedtime.
Espumisan can be used until you experience symptoms of the disorder.
When you are preparing patients for gastrointestinal studies, eg X-ray, ultrasound, one day before the test they shpuld take 2 capsules 3 times daily (equivalent to 240 mg simethicone per day) and the day of the test they should take 2 capsules (equivalent to 80 mg simethicone).
